The One Beauty Product I Can't Live Without

I honestly cannot tell you when I became the poster child for this particular product. I used to date someone who was never without a green stick of Blistex in his pocket that he reapplied with alarming frequency and I couldn’t wrap my head around his dependency on it. So I know this obsession of mine is less than ten years old. Potentially less than 5. Which is CRAZY to think about because now I don’t know how I’ve ever lived without this little jar of wonderful in my life.

It’s not a glam choice, by any means, which is great for my wallet because I stash this product everywhere. It’s none other than cult-classic Aquaphor. Not the “lip ointment” kind, or the giant tub, but the little wee mini jar you usually find on a spinning rack at the drugstore with other lip salves. This tiny jar has become my go-to lip gloss and I kinda don’t use anything else anymore. Rarely I’ll pull out my Fenty GlossBomb or a Tom Ford lipstick but you better believe I’m applying a layer of Aquaphor first!

As someone with lips who take up generous facial real estate, I cannot have a parched-looking pout. This little miracle jar keeps everything silky smooth and, quite honestly, plumped AF (no needles over here!). I slick a generous amount on before bed and through all waking hours. If I don’t put enough on before I jump on the massage table, it’s legit torture until I can reach for that jar again. I keep it in my purse, in the car, all around the house, I buy at least 3 at a time when I’m stocking up, I’ve used it in a pinch for dry skin on other areas of my body as well as my son’s winter-chapped lips, it’s just really become both a go-to and a crutch in my life lol. I carry it with me more often than I carry my phone - fact!!

An additional bonus to this glossy ointment is how well it mixes with lipstick to sheer out a strong color or just add a soft tint to your gloss. When I’m at the very end of a jar I like to wipe it clean with a paper towel and then let it soak in a hot sink with some dish soap to get the greasiness out. The result is extra jars to create custom lip colors in by adding a bit of Aquaphor from a new jar with a slice of lipstick and giving it the ol’ mixeroo! Moisturizing lip color I can stash in my clutch for a night out!
