My Snails Arrived in the Mail
Right now I’m staring at two boxes of snail gunk, wondering if I’m really going to put this on my face. For someone who A) goes to great lengths for skin care but B) has a severe aversion to gross textures, this seems like a dilemma of which only comedy gold can result.
To explain: I’ve been hearing RAVE reviews about these 2 CosRX products made from actual snail secretion filtrate for months now on various beauty blogs. During a recent late night bleary-eyed Amazon search for a toddler-sized construction costume way outside of the Halloween season I found both the costume and several “best of Amazon” beauty products. Okay, so maybe the latter was an actual Google search because, ADD + toddler costumes, but it came in handy when I needed to add something to my cart to bump my order up to Free Shipping status. Bring on the snail goo, says ambitious Mandy at 3:00 a.m.
Product #1 - CosRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
“If you're into snail mucin, this essence has a whopping 96% snail secretion filtrate for super intense repair and hydration. Think of this like vitamins for your face since it's loaded with replenishing and revitalizing nutrients to help prevent and repair damage, giving you ultimate elasticity and hydration. Snail mucin has the ability to repair everything from dry patches, to acne breakouts while helping zap hyperpigmentation, so with loyal use your skin will glow to look its healthiest.”
Sounds all good, right? I’ve scoured reviews endlessly for complaints of smell and so far, nothing. Yet still I’m skeptical…
Product #2 - CosRX Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream
“This all-natural jelly cream contains 92% snail secretion filtrate, giving it the slick texture of a gel and all the soothing, healing, and calming properties of mucin. Skin gets a heavy-duty dose of hydration that still feels light and fresh. Additionally, this miracle cream includes ingredients that soothe irritated skin while evening out your skin tone. Gentle enough for all skin types, including sensitive, oily, and acne-prone skin.”
Again, rave reviews, no mention of weird smell or texture…it all sounds fairly tolerable…I think?
Alright, in the name of beauty blogging I’m going to give these products a try! If anyone is interested in the results let me know below and I’ll do a follow-up post in a week or two!
