Summer Reading List 2017

There is nothing I love more than combing through new book releases and compiling a list of summer reads I will accumulate, stack nicely, and then promptly forget about around June 15. HA! However, this summer I seem to be on quite a reading kick and have actually been reading the books I've been collecting! It's helpful to be part of a small book club that tries to complete a "book bingo" challenge each year by reading books that fulfill various categories that tick off squares within a pre-made bingo sheet (i.e. "a book that's being turned into a movie" or "a book with a red spine"). I'm determined to actually finish the full sheet this year (4 years running, yet to finish the race) so that's where the majority of my summer picks have come from.

Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, The Woman I Wanted to Be by the amazing DVF, and Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts will not only be incredible reads but they'll each tick off a square in my challenge too. I recently devoured Since We Fell by Dennis Lehane (Mystic River, Shutter Island, Gone Baby Gone) as he is one of my favorite writers and I tend to love everything he puts out. His latest was no exception; I picked it up every chance I could and had it finished over a weekend. Such a great thriller! Next on my just-for-fun list will be The French Beauty Solution by Mathilde Thomas to satisfy my obsession with French beauty, Dior by Dior to satisfy by obsession with French fashion, Light is the New Black by Rebecca Campbell for something spiritual, The Whole30 cookbook for something healthy, and finally Caitlyn Jenner's book The Secrets of My Life to see what all the fuss is about (and I received it as a gift).
